Program Overview

An Adolescent Wilderness Program based in Central Utah

Pinnacle Foundation has created the "Paths of Peace" to help troubled adolescents use the wilderness to learn to walk forward with the knowledge of past mistakes, lessons of the present, and opportunities for the future.

Our program offers adolescents aged 13-17 years a chance to gain a profound sense of self-worth that can carry them through the challenges that life will certainly bring. When your young PathWalker (your child) comes to realize that they can care for themselves completely, even in the wilderness, it is truly an empowering feeling. It creates power and confidence in your child that will enable them to achieve things they never dreamed possible.

What makes Pinnacle UNIQUE?
A strong spiritual component that supports each adolescent's individual faith.
We use care, concern and trust to promote change in adolescents.
 High staff-to-student ratio.
 Group and individual counseling.
 Two-day Parent Workshop.
 Rolling, open admissions.
 Accredited academic curriculum.
 Assessment and referral services.
 Leadership skills and self-esteem building.
 On-going aftercare for one year.

During the 6- to 8-week stay with us at Pinnacle, they will be given opportunities to take responsibility for past mistakes while respecting their personal free agency. They will experience ideas and master skills that will build self-esteem and self-reliance. Students will participate in spiritual readings, letter writing, journaling experiences and practice new life skills that will promote change.

Students will meet with our Therapists/Counselors for individual therapy weekly. The Therapists/Counselors will also conduct weekly sessions with parents/caregivers by phone. The Pinnacle Medical Staff will provide weekly health, drug, and hygiene education, while responding to physical/medical needs and assessments. CPR and FIRST AID training will also be offered to each student to increase skills and boost self-esteem and confidence.

This provides adolescents the opportunity to demonstrate new skills learned on the trail and to heal relationships so that all parties can start anew. This is also a time that individual Post-Pinnacle Planning will be laid out utilizing your child’s local community resources. Goals will be set for the student and family members which will be followed up by Pinnacle Therapists/Counselors in the weeks and months following release from Pinnacle.
